The 2026 export blueprint: the AI technology cycle and Asian market momentum

HKTDC projects solid export growth for Hong Kong in 2026. Our read on what the AI hardware cycle and intra-Asian demand mean for supply chain planning.

Harbour Strategies (Hong Kong) Limited has issued its industry outlook in response to the export forecast from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, which projects robust growth in Hong Kong exports through 2026 following a strong prior year. We read this as a meaningful vote of confidence in Hong Kong’s role as an international trade hub, and it shapes how we are positioning our own business.

A clear majority of surveyed exporters point to rising demand for artificial intelligence and new technology consumer electronics as the primary growth driver for the year ahead. With electronics accounting for the large majority of Hong Kong’s export value, the global AI build-out is actively reshaping supply chain flows. We are tracking that cycle closely and positioning around related consumer electronics and core component trade.

On market strategy, Asia stays first in line. Mainland China leads the list of expansion markets named by exporters, followed by other Asian markets and ASEAN — a preference that holds across nearly every industry surveyed. We share that view, and are deepening resource allocation across Mainland China and ASEAN to make full use of Hong Kong’s super-connector position.
