What we use
One cookie, named hs_consent. It records whether you accepted or declined the notice shown on your first visit, so we do not ask again on every page. It expires after six months and contains nothing but that choice.
What we do not use
No analytics cookies, no advertising or retargeting pixels, no social media trackers, no cross-site profiling, and no third-party scripts that could set cookies on our behalf.
Local storage
Two entries. hs-theme records whether you chose the light or dark colour scheme, so the site does not flash the wrong one on your next visit; if you never choose, nothing is written and the theme simply follows the clock on your device. hs-theme-seen holds a timestamp, so the short notice explaining which version is showing appears at most once an hour rather than on every page. Both stay on your device, are never sent to us or anyone else, and clearing your browser data removes them. Your language preference is carried in the page address rather than stored at all.
Third-party content
The contact page embeds a map served by OpenStreetMap. Loading it sends your IP address to that service, as any embedded content would. It is the only third-party request the site makes; if you decline cookies the map still loads, because it is functional rather than tracking content.
Your choice
Declining the notice simply records the refusal. Nothing on the site stops working. You can clear the cookie at any time through your browser settings, and the notice will appear again on your next visit.
